“SUP Bristol is a thriving community of local paddle boarders who use SUP Bristol to progress their paddle boarding skills and for some like me it is the only place they can paddle. I don’t own a board, I can walk there.
Being able to paddle, switch off and enjoy the harbour from another angle has such a huge impact on my mental health. If SUP Bristol closes, it’s also a major loss to making the harbour more accessible to tourists.”

“As someone with a disability, being able to access paddleboarding on the harbour does so much for my self esteem and confidence.“

“Being a stay at home parent can be extremely isolating, so something that combines exercise, fresh air and socialising is incredible.”

“I stated paddleboarding three years ago at the age of 65 and now have a fantastic new hobby which I do at least twice week in the docks.” Brendan
“When paddleboarding we pick up litter which has since led me to take up volunteering as a litter picker.”

“Regularly paddle boarding has massively helped my postpartum recovery by increasing my core strength. It’s also been a mental lifesaver helping me to get active, outdoors and social during what can otherwise be quite an isolating period for new mums.”

“SUP Bristol gave me the skills and opportunity to take part regularly in paddling in and around Bristol this has helped me deal with my mental health issues and my ongoing physical disability. Without Kate, Tim and the team’s help my life would be a lot poorer.”

Seeing my favourite city from a different angle was inspiring, relaxing, great exercise, a form of meditation and fun.SUP provides an accessible way to get on the water and enjoy the city.
I would be devastated if this opportunity was not only taken from me but from the wider Bristol community”

“Just getting out on the water with a group of lovely people and having a relaxing paddle around the wonderful Bristol Harbour is such a great way to de stress and unwind. I also love how it is so inclusive, I’ve spoken to so many people from all kinds of backgrounds and walks of life”

I have found the sessions so valuable on many levels. They provide an opportunity to do a water-activity that is affordable, and easy to access to.
I don’t have a car and rely on my bicycle to do everything around Bristol. So being able to ride to the harbour for an hour on the water is a wonderful way for me to start or end my day.
The sessions are also a good way to connect with other people, from all over the city, have a chat and a laugh whilst doing some physical exercise.

“Water sports can often be very expensive and inaccessible requiring lots of kit/training and fees but being a member of SUP Bristol means I can just turn up and be ready to enjoy being out on the water with the mental and physical health that brings. I’ve met lots of new people and I hugely enjoy learning and improving as I go.”

“My family and Autistic people I work with would be devastated if SUP was to close as we would miss out on a wonderful way to enjoy the city and to be active.”
