A few of you have been asking what we think about swimming in Cumberland Basin. We love swimming in rivers. We grew up doing it. We also love the harbour and there’s nothing we enjoy more than seeing people out on the water.
What do we think about swimming in Bristol then?
Our view is that to make swimming workable for everyone would take the sort of planning you see at Bristol Triathlon, or a swimming quarry like Cromhall or Vobster Quay (both great spots to swim).
Simple things like designated times, roped off areas, bankside spotters, emergency access and safety craft.
If someone wanted to work with the council to organise non-competitive event(s) along these lines we’d totally support them.
Until then though, we recommend enjoying the harbour from a boat or board.
Stay safe and see you on the water x
