SUP Bristol Impact

We started SUP Bristol back in 2014 with a mission to bring adventure to the heart of the city, for everyone.

Since then we’ve worked hard to break down barriers to paddlesport, improve safety, and look after the rivers we love. We work with marginalised communities, we clean up our harbour, we educate on water safety and so much more.

We know there’s still a long way to go but we’re super proud of what we’ve achieved so far. Here’s a snapshot of what we’re working on.

What’s new for 2024?
With our 10th birthday this year, we aim to get at least 10 community groups onto the water who might not ordinarily access the water, ensuring that we are more reflective of and relevant to the city where we’re based.
  1. Black Mothers Matter – working with the staff team and the women they support to build new communities around the water and introduce new generations to SUP
  2. Talk Club – two projects, ‘Talk and Exercise’ weekly mental health support sessions for men and also a business support offer to corporates who are joining us on the water, to have the additional option of a Talk Club session
  3. Access Sport – running a SUP club for neurodiverse young people
  4. Barnardos BASE – running a 6 week programme for young people involved in the sex trade
We’re also lauching our Paddle it Forward fund. This ring-fenced fund enables people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to access the water where finance is a barrier.
